Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro (イジらないで、長瀞さん, Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san) is a Japanese webmanga series written and illustrated by Nanashi. It began serialization in Kodansha's online and app-based webmanga magazine, Magazine Pocket, on November 1, 2017.

An early version was first posted on Pixiv on August 16, 2011.

Story[]

When an introverted male student meets a girl called Nagatoro, his life is turned upside down. She first quietly observes his reaction to verbal abuse from some other high-school girls that are not well-meaning, realizes that oddly enough in his case it may be exactly what he needs, and so begins a sequence of her teasing him. It soon becomes increasingly obvious (to the reader, not to him) that her teasing is actually sardonic, well-intentioned, and flirtatious, but he eventually starts to catch on.

Characters[]

  • Hayase Nagatoro, a first (later second) year high school student who likes to tease her Senpai.
  • Naoto Hachiouji / Senpai, a second (later third) year high school student who constantly gets teased by Nagatoro.
  • Maki Gamou / Gamo-chan, Nagatoro's best friend who's aware of her feelings for Senpai.
  • Yoshi, a simple-minded member of Nagatoro's group of friend.
  • Sakura, the most seductive among Nagatoro's group of friend.
  • Sana Sunomiya / President, a third-year high school (later university) student and president of Senpai's art club.
  • Hana Sunomiya, the President's younger cousin who joined the art club during Senpai's last year.

Reception[]

In Japan, on November 2019, the manga sold over one million copies,[1] subsequently raised to 1.2 million on mid-July 2020.[2] On Reddit's 2019 Most Popular Manga series Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san gained the eighth place, making it the world's most read ecchi manga.[3]

On April 9, 2020, the series protagonists were featured in a cameo on the 27th chapter of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War - Dōjin Edition. Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro also has a crossover with Azu's "Magical Sempai",[4] and was established to be set in the same narrative universe of Yoshiaki Sukeno's "My Senpai is After My Life" after the latter made several references to Nanashi's fictional manga "School Rumble Shining" (featured for the first time in Chapter 4).[5]
